Show: CNet Central
Episode: ?? "Cool Tech
segment: Mattel's new Barbie Camera"
The Host is supposed to be talking about the camera but as you can see by the two Sailor
Moon figures in front of her, she would rather be talking about something else. Thanks to Peter
Dudycz for the video grabs. |
|
Show: Attack of the Show
Date: 2/17/2006
Comic book goddess Blair Butler visits Wondercon and interacts humorously with a variety
of nerds. During one of her interview segments, the woman she is interviewing is dressed as
Super Salior Moon while her friend carries a Sailor Moon bag.
Watch it here.
Thanks goes to Mandee! |

Show: Dead Zone
Episode: 1x08 "Netherworld"
Johnny wakes up in a fantasy world one day to find himself married to Sarah and the father of
her two children. As he's flicking through an old photo album, there is a shot of his supposed
little girl dressed as Sailor Moon. Thanks Mandee for the picture! |
|
Show: Entourage
Episode: 2x09 "I Love You Too"
Cordelia LeFay notes that the main character, Vincent, has been offered the part of Aquaman.
For publicity, he visits San Diego's Comic Con. In the crowd there's a Eternal Sailor Saturn and
PGSM Sailor Mercury. |
|
Show: Royal Canadian Air Farce
This was a mock promo for Sailor Moon which first aired on February 21, 1997 on CBC Television
in Canada. The promo completely re-interpreted the title by simply showing a couple of sailors
"mooning" the camera. |
|
Show: Street Smarts
This is a game show where contestants build up a bank (by predicting whether three people
randomly chosen off the street answered questions right or wrong) and wager it in a Final
Jeopardy style round called the Wager of Death. This Wager of Death question: "Who or
what is Sailor Moon?" Both people chosen to answer got the question right.
The picture only shows you the segment, but to really get the sighting you have to watch the
segment here.
All the thanks in the world to Mandee for finding this one! |

Show: Agro's Cartoon Connection
They originally aired Sailor Moon in the early 90s in Australia. The show was hosted by the
puppet Agro (performed by Jamie Dunn) and a few human hosts (some being Ian Calder,
Michael "Gibbo" Gibson, Home and Away's Holly Brisley and future Great Outdoors reporter
Ann-Maree Biggar). On this particular morning they had the "real" Sailor Mercury (the one
coming down from the crowd full of 'mini moons' ;) ). She may be the voice actor over there
or something but I am not sure. |

Show: Thanksgiving Sailor Moon-athon
Station: ??
These screen grabs are from a two hour Sailor Moon-athon that aired Thanksgiving weekend
of 1995. Tia Browsh (dressed as Sailor Moon), introduced each episode. |
|
Show: Jeopardy
Episode: June 18 08?
In a category marked "Anime" for $1600 the correct answer was "What is Sailor Moon." Good
thing to hear that it was answered right too. |
|
Show: W.I.T.C.H.
Episode: 2x18 "R is for Relentless" and 2x22 "V is for Victory"
In episode 2x18 (watch it here),
you can see a breif shot of Usagi in Minako's school uniform while the main characters get
lunch. In episode 2x22 (watch it here),
you can see another breif shot of Usagi walking down the hall right before an explosion.
There is also a sighting in the manga but it might be one of the above (sorry no pics). Thanks
to Mandee and Novadestin for info and pics. |

Show: Shuriken School
In this show there is a girl named Ami Saeki who looks exactly like Minako: fuku, haircut, red
bow and all. Her character is very vain, constantly obsessing over her appearance. However,
her pampered looks conceal a great aptitude for disguise and deception. Along with this, her
character is the focus of two romance storylines. Watch the trailer
here. (BTW the
images say France because my copy was in that language.) |

Show: Megas XLR
This is one of the more obvious sightings and probably my least liked. Here, some "space
chicks" come and ask for the main character help to save their planet. The main characters
best friend pretends he is the one they are looking for and so chaos ensues.
The reason I don't like this one is because of the obvious "this is a guys show" routine: the
girls can't save themselves even though they can turn into giant robots with magic, they just
ooh and ahh as the guy does all the heroic stuff, they serve and praise him when he wins,
they are airheads, they are superficial, they become oh so in love with their hero that they
just have to protect him when the real "hero" shows up......etc etc you get the idea. |
|
Show: ReBoot
Episode: 3x15 "System Crash"
We find a Sailor Moon binome (an inhabitant of the show's computer-like world) trying to use
her magic wand to stop a building from falling. Surrounded by the other Inner Scout binomes,
she is about to succeed when some rubble crushes her flat. She is also featured in the intro
to the episode as Dot talks about searching for her family. Watch it here.
This wasn't a random occurrence though, as the same network also ran Sailor Moon and the
artists often added famous characters in as other binomes. |
|
Show: Robot Chicken
Episode: 1x14 "Joint Point" and 3x10 "Moesha Poppins"
Robot Chicken is a crude humor show which has not one but two different spotting's. The first
features Queen Beryl sending a minion after Sailor Moon's life force
(Part One,
Part Two,
Part Three)
and the second (sorry no pics yet) features what happened to the girls toys of yesteryear
(Watch it here).
Both clips feature the crude, sexual humor the show is known for. |
|
Show: Drawn Together
Episode: 2x02 "Foxxy vs the Board of Education"
In this episode, Foxxy Love sends Ling-Ling to take a standardized test in her place (because
"oriental's are genetically superior at standardized testing"). Ling-Ling sits next to Sailor Moon
in the classroom. |
|
Show: The Simpsons
Episode: 15x07 "Tis the Fifteenth Season"
This episode briefly featured the family portraying different Japanese superheroes. Homer
was Ultra man, Bart was Atom (Astro) Boy, Lisa was Sailor Moon, Maggie was Pikachu, and
Marge was Jun from Gatchaman. Watch it here. |
|
Show: Neurotically Yours
Episode: A-Kon Rules (promo)
Foamy the Squirrel has a few rules for all the A-Kon visitors while his owner, Gerimaine, sits
behind him dressed as Sailor Moon. Not only is this a visual reference but he also points out
that when someone asks for your id, you should not "take out your sailor moon nudy site
membership card!" Watch it here. |
|
Company: Camp Chaos
Show: Popeye vs. Anime
On May 22, 2008, Camp Chaos posted an animated show that features stereotypical Japanese
characters asking Popeye "the American" to save them. There's not one but two miniature
Sailor Moon's in there. Its actually really funny and true to how the characters would act. Watch it here. |

price is right
In Cold Case Files 2x01, Silent Witness/Innocence Lost, you can see a Sailor Moon
backpack.
Dooky/George credit for Yuricon video
From "Dooky": British TV Channel 4 featured a 4 minute documentary on
Yuricon, an American yuri convention, sometime before December 2005. In it
was clips from Sailor Moon episodes 106 and 180. It also contained stuff from
other shows like Utena, Oniisama E, and Hen. ("Dooky" posted that they had a video
file of it but that was in 2005. I emailed them anyway and hopefully they answer
me back and still have it cause otherwise this will be super hard to find! Yuricon
did run in April 2005, and only once before in June 2003, so that will help narrow
things down!)
