Dart Flip Prismatic

Information About this Set

This set is referred to as the "Prismatic" set because the back of every card has a little banner that says "Prismatic Trading Cards". All 72 regular cards as well as the promo's were printed on standard size prismatic card stock so the front of each card has a glittery background. The Mail Away cards where printed on the same card paper, but they are a larger size. The Lenticular cards are basically larger versions of the Action Flipz cards as they share the same moving picture quality. Also the backs of each card is pretty much the same, other than the small amount of writing about the picture on the front or the series.

For this set Dart limited production to 500 cases, but it is unknown if that applies to the other three sets as well. It is also unknown why they limited them, but it's widely believe to be due to the cost of prismatic card stock over regular card stock.

Release Info	Released by Dart Flipcards Inc. around the 1997/1998 turn of the year. Mostly, everything was printed in 1997, but the Mail Away cards and promo's were printed in 1998. Some items were printed in Canada (box, wrapper, sell sheet, lenticular cards) and some were printed in the USA (promo's, mail away, regular cards).
Distribution Info	Boxes per case: Between 12 and 16 Packs per box: 36 Cards per pack: 6 (unless replaced by a chase card) Cards per box: 216 (unless replaced by a chase card) Chase cards per box: Varies (from my experience: 1-3) Binder and other items were sold or obtained separately. Dart guaranteed that a complete 1-72 set of regulars can be found in every box.
Best Storage	The collection binder, while meant to store these cards does not come with protective sheets so you have to buy your own. The regular cards, lenticular cards, promo's, and wrapper can all be held in the standard protective sheets that have 9 slots. You will have to fold the wrapper a bit, but it will not effect the overall picture. The mail away cards are over-sized so you will need a different protective sheet for them, find the ones that have four 3 ½" x 5 ¼" slots. The box can be stored as is or it can be broken down and stored in a protective sheet that has one 8 ½" x 11" slot, this size will also hold the sell sheet. The press sheet can be stored in a poster frame if the right size can be found and I am not sure about the case as I have yet to see one. All these protective sheets are available at BCW Supplies.
