Dart Flip Awesome

Information About this Set

This set is referred to as the "Awesome" set because the back of every card has a little banner that says "Awesome Trading Cards". The backs of each card is pretty much the same, other than the small amount of writing about the picture on the front or the series. All of the 72 regular cards as well as the promo's in this set are printed on standard size and type trading card paper. However, the Die-Cut and Case Toppers are cut to fit the image on the card. The Mail Away cards, while the same size and card stock as the regular cards, are made to have part of the card folded back to create a sort of standing image.

Some people say that this set is exactly the same as the Archival set just with different names, yet there are differences. All the picture's on the front are the same (save for some being flipped), it is the backs of the cards that hold the most difference's. The colors on the Awesome cards are darker and in some cases more stunning. When put together, the Archival cards seem to be a little faded. Another difference is the way the cards face. Many sites show the front and back of the cards reading the same way, but this is wrong. When card 71 from the Awesome deck is facing upright and turned over, the number on the back will be on top left. Do the same thing to card 71 in the Archival deck and the number will be on the bottom right. Awesome cards have a large pink line on the back going down the center of every card, while Archival cards have a diagonal yellow line across the backs. Along with all this the color of the stars on the backs are different along with the small picture's, the date, and the deck name on the small banners.

Another thing some people find odd is card 5 which shows Mina hurt and upset on the front and on the back says "Mina is a quiet, dependable, happy go lucky girl". Aside from the fact that Mina is not generally quiet, the image and the statement of being happy go luck seem mismatched. Card 53's front image is slightly blurry and card 60's border is uneven as well, but the strangest card of all is card 67 which features a shot of Haruka, a shot that should not have been include as she does not appear till season 3.

Best Storage The collection binder, while meant to store these cards does not come with protective sheets so you have to buy your own. These cards are considered standard size so the standard protective sheet of 9 slots will work perfect, fitting most of the cards and wrapper. The Case Toppers, however, need a different style sheet. You will want to look for protective sheets that have three 3 ½" x 8" slots, usually used to hold currency. The box can be stored as is or it can be broken down and stored in a protective sheet that has one 8 ½" x 11" slot, these sheets also work well for the uncut sheets and the sell sheet. The press sheet can be stored in a poster frame if the right size can be found and I am not sure about the case as I have yet to see one. All these protective sheets are available at BCW Supplies.
