Dart Flip Archival

Information About this Set

This set is referred to as the "Archival" set because the back of every card has a little banner that says "Archival Trading Cards". The backs of each card is pretty much the same, other than the small amount of writing about the picture on the front or the series. Each card pack contains 6 cards as well as one Archive Collectible Card Game Promo card that gives info on the new Collectible Card Game. All of the cards in this set are printed on standard size and type trading card paper. In certain foil packs, some will supposedly find a special mail-away offer for a one-of-a-kind printing plate used in the production of the set (please see the paragraph below) although I have yet to find one, even after buying a box.

Printing Plates were also available with this set. Printing Plates are the different colored plates that are used to make each card. 576 were available and each one was different; one for each card, one for each primary color used on it, and so on, although the exact color/card ratios are unknown at this moment. Each printing plate comes in a three part plague. One area holds an actually card, one holds a printing plate that was used to make the card, and one holds a certificate of authenticity.

Some people say that this set is exactly the same as the Awesome set just with different names, yet there are differences. All the picture's on the front are the same (save for some being flipped), it is the backs of the cards that hold the most differences. The colors on the Awesome cards are darker and in some cases more stunning. When put together, the Archival cards seem to be a little faded. Another difference is the way the cards face. Many sites show the front and back of the cards reading the same way, but this is wrong. When card 71 from the Awesome deck is facing upright and turned over, the number on the back will be on top left. Do the same thing to card 71 in the Archival deck and the number will be on the bottom right. Awesome cards have a large pink line on the back going down the center of every card, while Archival cards have a diagonal yellow line across the backs. Along with all this the color of the stars on the backs are different along with the small picture's, the date, and the deck name on the small banners.

Along with the above, card 5, card 53, and card 67 still feature the same problems as they did in the Awesome set. However, card 60's border has been changed so that it is even on all sides.

Best Storage The collection binder, while meant to store these cards, does not come with protective sheets so you have to buy your own. These cards are considered standard size so the standard protective sheet of 9 slots will work perfect, fitting all the regular cards, ccg chase cards, and wrapper. The Printing plates come pre-protected in black cases (please see picture for reference). The box can be stored as is or it can be broken down and stored in a protective sheet that has one 8 ½" x 11" slot, this size will also hold the sell sheet. The press sheet can be stored in a poster frame if the right size can be found and I am not sure about the case as I have yet to see one. All these protective sheets are available at BCW Supplies.
