The Myrrdin sat anchored in the bay as Asherion, MadMouth, and Gemshot rowed ashore. They tied up the lifeboat and walked towards the large house. Asherion had told the others that his lady would be willing to gate them where ever they wished. A young girl opened the door and almost tackled Asherion. "Ash! Its so good to see you!" she cried happily. An older woman came over to see what the commotion was. "Rosin please contain yourself. Hello Asherion, please come in. Who are your two friends?" she asked, looking suspiciously at them. "Thank ye Ilhar. But I would nay call them friends," Ilhar's eyes moved from Asherion to the two others with a concerned look, "I will tell ye when we find me Lady," said Ash and they walked inside. They followed Ilhar and Rosin up some stairs to the library. Two young women sat at a large table. They all sat down and Ilhar went to get them some drinks. Asherion waited for her to return before he started to speak. "Greetin's me Ladies. Allow me to introduce me companions. This be MadMouth Sickrot and Gemshot Seafire," said Ash as he kissed the hands of the two women. The women laughed and Rosin looked on dreamily. One woman introduced herself as Sedia Auvryarn and her friend was Miakoda D'Faer. Asherion explained how he had met his companions over several drinks and they in turn asked about the stories they had heard about Sedia. After many hours of talking, Sedia agreed that she would drop them where they liked, but if Ash liked them then they were welcome in her home. Asherion was fine with MadMouth being there, but kept his eye on Gemshot. But to his surprise, Gemshot's eyes were not on the many treasures in Sedia's home, but on the lovely Miakoda.
Finally, Sedia said that she was planning to go to the market and asked if they would all like to come. Ilhar said she had some work to do, but the others said it would be fun. They all walked outside and Sedia cast a gate to Asgard. Moments later they stood at the gates of the city. Gemshot and MadMouth felt a little nervous being out in public, but Rosin told them that it was normal and then went on talking about how she was once in the same position they were. "I used to be nervous too, but with Sedia as a god mother, I have nothing to be afraid of," she said with a smile to Sedia. "And having Ralakar as a husband ain't bad either," said Asherion with a laugh. "Asherion, I can handle myself just fine without him you know," said Sedia with a sideways glance. "Aye, but ye would rather him be around right," said Ash. "Well of course," said Sedia and smiled. Gemshot and MadMouth looked at one another, wondering if this was the same Ralakar as the great guild master for the Royal Order of Knights. A cry from behind them made them turn to see who was shouting. A wealthy looking man was pointing towards Gemshot and shouting. Soon an order guard near him was looking towards MadMouth with a slight frown. A few order guards approached them. "It seems this elf," the guard indicated Gemshot, "is a thief and this orc," he indicated MadMouth, "is a murderer." "Protect the little one," whispered Ash to them as both he and Sedia stepped forward. Sedia and Rosin both adjusted their hoods so their faces were hidden a bit more and Asherion lowered his head, thankful that he had removed his pirate's cap moments before. Everyone in this group was wanted for one thing or another, and Ash hoped that there would not be to much trouble. "You must be mistaken. These men have done nothing wrong," said Sedia, although she was not sure herself if that was true. "Not according to this witness and my men," said the guard. "I can account that these lads have been with me on the open sea fer the last few months now," said Asherion. "Oh can you know. And what ship are you from?" asked the guard. Asherion looked to Sedia, knowing that if he gave the name of his ship then the guard would know him as a pirate. But he was saved from having to answer when one of the complainers walked up to them. "Don't just stand there, arrest that elf!" he said. Sedia looked into his eyes and saw that what he was accusing Gemshot of was true. She did not mind though, if Asherion trusted him then so did she. "I am sorry sir, but you will not be taking these men anywhere," said Sedia and began to lead them away. "Now hold on just a moment," said the guard and ran in front of them, "I did not give you permission to leave just yet. These men need to be held accountable for their actions." Asherion shock his head at MadMouth when he saw his fist was clenched. Sedia sighed deeply and looked the guard in the eyes. She saw that even though he was doing his job, he was getting joy out of annoying them. "You have no evidence. Now stand aside," she said sternly. "I don't need any evidence," he said and drew his weapon, "I trust the words of the commoner." "Only the commoner with money," said Gemshot.
Several other guards surrounded them and drew their weapons. The men drew their weapons in response, but Sedia held up her hands and shook her head. Several others had gathered around them to watch and she did not want to cause a scene. "This is not necessary. They have no proof of anything save the word of others and that is hardly enough," she said to them and then turned back to the guard that blocked her way, "Move aside." Sedia took a step forward but the guard pushed her back, "I told you that you could not leave." Sedia landed in Asherion's arms and her hood fell backwards, revealing her face. A few of the guards gasped and began to whisper to each other. The guard who had pushed her gave a smirk and laughed. "So you are the legendary Sedia, the one that the Elves and Dragons have placed a heavy bounty on," he said and stepped forward. He reached for the hood covering Rosin's face, and she shrunk back. MadMouth stepped between them and Gemshot placed his arm around the girl. Sedia drew her dagger quickly and placed it under the guard's chin. "If you wish to life then I suggest you stay away from that child," she said harshly. The guard looked at her and then nodded towards a guard that stood behind them. Before Gemshot could react, the guard had pulled Rosin free of his hold and pulled back her hood. Rosin screamed and kicked the guard in the leg. He winced and let go of her, she ran into the outstretched arms of Asherion. "That would be the slave girl that those men were looking for a few weeks ago I believe sir," one of the guards offered to the commander. "So it would seem," he said as he backed away slowly from Sedia's blade, "We will take them all in." The guards drew their weapons, as did Sedia and the others, but then someone called to them. Sedia looked up to see Ralakar and several of his men ridding towards them. She let out a sigh of relief and smiled to him. He gave her an annoyed look, but smiled. "That is my wife you are pointing your blades at," he growled to the guards. MadMouth and Gemshot looked at each other again and finally knew that Sedia's husband and the leader of the Royal Order of Knights was the same man. This fact astounded them both. Most of the guards quickly lowered their weapons, but the commander did not. "Sir, all of them are wanted fugitives and should be dealt with," he said. "All of my wife's friends are trouble," said Ralakar with a sigh and Sedia grinned, "But that does not mean they go free. Sedia, have they been causing problems?" "Not at all. Asherion said that Gemshot and MadMouth have been out to sea with him for months and I trust his word," she said. "Then I do as well," said Ralakar. "But what of the slave girl?" protested the commander. "I am not a slave!" cried Rosin angrily. "You heard the child," said Ralakar, "she is not the girl you are looking for. The same with the others." He went to open his mouth again, most likely to ask about Sedia, but Ralakar waved them off as he escorted his wife and her companions to the town bank, Rosin ridding on the horse with him. "How is the fight for the castle going?" asked Sedia as she looked up at him. "Good, those orc's are not as strong as they look," he said, then apologized to MadMouth who gave him a stern look. He let Rosin down when they reached the bank and wished them a good day. He gave Sedia a kiss and another look of concern before they rode off to continue the fight with the orc's for Asgard Castle. |
