(**/** - this means that this section is a flashback into Asherion's life) Asherion certainly has had a unique childhood. Orphaned as a child and found by a local pub owner, he spent his whole life inside its walls and he hated it so. His father had been a very successful bar keep, but he had bigger dreams. **Asherion was running around washing the tavern's tables when he heard a loud shout from a group of men at the bar. He watched as a strange elf that his father knew stood up and spoke to him, then left. He listened to the story intently, but tried to make it appear like he was working. When the bar was closed that night, he approached his father and asked how he knew such a strange elf. "She saved my life," his father said. "But why would an evil being like her save you?" Asherion asked in confusion. "Dear boy, she is not evil nor is she good. But she will protect those who have been wronged. She helped me when a liche attacked the tavern, nearly killed your mother." said his father and he fell into thought.**
Asherion packed all his belongings into a small pack his father had given him and then walked down the stairs to finish cleaning up the bar. **Asherion was cleaning the tables as the last of the patrons cleared out of the tavern. The elf and his father sat in a corner and played cards. He watched them joking and laughing for a bit and then went back to his work. Only a few minutes had past when his father called him over. He walked slowly towards them, still a little weary of the strange elf. When he reached them, his father patted him on the shoulder and grinned. "This is my boy Asherion. Ash, this is Sedia Auvryarn. She been wanting to meet you for a while," his father said happily. He looked at the elf, who was smiling down at him and gave a small, sheepish wave of his hand. "Just like you when we first meet," grinned the elf at his father. Asherion went back to cleaning his tables and they went back to their cards. Ten minutes later a horse gave a shrill cry outside and the elf jumped up. His father walked over to the bar and grabbed an axe, then walked slowly to the door. Before he could reach it, it was blown of its hinges when a fireball was thrown at it. Asherion's father where thrown backwards. Asherion was as well, and he would have landed on a pile of sharp derby had the elf not saved him, she set him down next to his father. She walked to the door and saw several ophidians outside. She told them to stay inside and then ran into the night to fight the ophidians off. When she returned, she was covered in blood and her arm had a deep cut in it. She sat down next to his father and sighed. Thats when she saw the blood. "Where were you hit?" she cried. "That blast. I landed on my axe," his father laughed and wiped a tear from his cheek. "Sedia take care of Asherion, he's....." but he never found out what he was, for his father died before he could finish.**
The sunlight shone down on him as he walked out of the tavern and locked the door behind him. He walked a few paces and then turned to look one last time at his childhood home. **"Why are you closing the tavern Asherion?" came a voice over his shoulder. "Got better things to do, besides I would prefer spending time with friends rather then a bunch of strangers," he said with a smile. "I thought you were closing to peruse your dream of being a treasure hunter," Sedia said with a curious look. "I am, but that doesn't mean I can't spend time with you," he said and gave her another smile. Sedia gave him a smile and then told him she was going to go home. He said he would see her often among his travels and she grinned. After she had closed the door he went back to cleaning the tables.** Asherion let out a deep sigh and then turned down the road and headed off. Where? He had no idea. And he liked it that way. |
