Welcome. The purpose of this site is to remember the people involved in events
of school violence. This is not a place to find archives of information or a place
to argue over 'why' (a question which can NEVER be answered). It's also not a
"fanlisting" of any kind. This is simply a place to find a list of these events
and the names of those directly effected. It's a place to remember the people.
Which is, after all, the most important aspect of these events.
Listing: (currently fact checking)
This listing is in a Microsoft Excel Spreadsheet. It includes a main "general"
listing, a listing with names, and a listing of multimedia related to school
violence such as books, movies, and music (not the actual files, just a list of
them).
This listing attempts to bring together all events from around the world that
have any relation to school violence. However, not all events are considered
relevant and that is simply due to personal opinion. Events that will be included
are any that take place at or around school facilities, school vehicles, or school
sponsored events that involve violence occurring or almost occurring (no one has
to be hurt). All events must deal directly with an intent to carry out violence
against school property, the facility, or the students. Shootings, stabbings, and
barely foiled plots are all examples of what is including while such things as
making bomb threats and just having a hit list are not.
Also, I take a broader stance on "what is school violence" than most. I include
the Kent State shootings and acts of terrorism that occur with relation to the
above. This is because I do not look at the "why," which people seem determined
to categorize until it no longer has any meaning, but rather solely at the location
and the intent. If you would like to learn more about a particular event than you
are welcome to go out and research it for yourself.
Driven to Suicide
Because these specific murders did not occur on school property, I cannot list
them. However I still very much wish to include them as they are very much related
to the topic at hand so I have added them directly to the main page. (Megan Meier
is not listed as her case did not deal with school, but her death is still just
as tragic.)
