Q&A

What's with Severus being no touchie? He is not that kind of person. From what he has seen at home, it makes him a bit uncomfortable.

Why Severus is always grabbing Mary's arm? It comes from his father, a when words don't work kind of thing. He feels sometimes force to get his point across is necessary.

Why is James made out to be so bad in sixth year? He's a teenager and a prankster in the "best" school house, one that is known for its pride and bullheadedness. So yes he's gonna be an arse sometimes.

How can you say Mary is like Severus and still have the Marauders like her? They never take the time to really get to know Severus so even if Mary was like him they wouldn't know.

What happens to Mary's friends and Arietta in her 7th year? Arietta, Kelly, and Sarah were a year above Mary so they were in their 7th year when Mary was in her 6th.

If Mary's parents were found out on a mission, how can they still hide out among the Death Eaters? In the first war, everyone's identities were a secret so even if one group found them out it is no guarantee that another would. Besides they have glamour magic and Auror training on their side.

Why do they say mom instead of mum? I equate this to people thinking all Canadian's say 'a' after everything. It's rather linguistically racist if you ask me xD. Not every English person adds a 'u' to everything whenever they speak! Get over it please.

Weren't Severus and McGonagall in school together? No. It is fact that McGonagall was "on staff since December of 1956" and Severus started school in 1971. So there is no way they went to school together, see below for more.

Notes

This school is just like any other high school. We all know how high school is. Kids getting picked on for being different, lots of rumors, and not many people going to the source to find out the truth. There are plenty of misunderstandings and secrets in school and that's where the majority of problems comes from.

Remember what you read is not everything that is happening. Just because you read about them with so and so or doing this or that doesn't mean they always are. You usually only see someone (other then the main characters of course) when his or her actions have meaning to the story.

Christmas and Easter are the only holidays.

Hogsmeade weekends tend to start around October/November and probably go throughout the whole year. 3rd years and up are allowed to go.

The Quidditch season starts in October, with the first games usually in early November. Quidditch tryouts are usually held in the second week of school. There is a match at the beginning of November, one at the end, one in January, one shortly after Valentines, one in early May, and one held in late May just before the exams, which is the final. There's only 6 matches.

Students are not allowed to use magic outside of school or even in the corridors between classes at Hogwarts. But we all know they still do.

Students have formal training for seven years, with their OWLs and career advice in May-June of their fifth year, more specialized classes chosen to help toward their career in sixth and seventh years, and NEWTs in June of their seventh year. Upon leaving Hogwarts, witches and wizards are considered "fully qualified". This is when they start their jobs.

Children become "of age" when they turn seventeen, even if they are still in school. At 17, they can apply for a license to Apparate. They also live much, much longer then muggles and are not as easily hurt.

In the first war, Voldemort did not let the Death Eaters know each others identities. However, in the second war, he has changed this rule - that of maintaining the Death Eaters as a cellular organization, so that one traitor could not betray the identities of all the other members. This may be due to the fact that he has so few followers now.

It is common knowledge that few witches or wizards refer to Voldemort as "Voldemort", and fewer still by his birth name. It is significant; however, which nickname a witch or wizard uses to refer to Voldemort. The "Dark Lord", is a term that seems to be used primarily by the Death Eaters (current and former).

The Order communicates with their patronuses; Dumbledore taught them how too. Dumbledore's is a phoenix. A patronus is an immensely powerful anti-dark arts device, which makes it highly resilient to interference from dark wizards. Each is unique and distinctive so that there is never any doubt which member has sent it. No one can conjure another's patronus so there is no danger of false messages. Nothing conspicuous needs to be carried to create them.

A pensive shows reality and you can go back and notice things you did not see before with it.

The Years

September 1st, 1971 - James, Sirius, Remus, Peter, Lily, Severus, Avery, Wilkes (all canon), and Mary all start their first year at Hogwarts.

The 1971/72 school year was Andromeda Black/Tonks' 7th year; Lucius Malfoy and Narcissa Black/Malfoy's 5th; Mulciber, Evan Rosier (all canon), Arietta Avery, Kelly Emoysse, and Sarah Gwen's 2nd.

Regulus Black started his first year in his brother's second. Bellatrix, Rodolphus, and Rasbastan had already graduated.

All the years have been carefully determined from their dates of birth and are as accurate to canon as they can be (they could be a year off at most depending on their actual birth date). For those who we don't know a year for yet, they have been mostly or partly assumed.

For information on a particular canon character or any other Harry Potter info see the lexicon! And no I don't take the Lexicon as 'law', I have already found several mistakes there.

The Houses

Ravenclaw - Smart, clever and oh, so witty.
Quiet and a bit reserved, Ravenclaw's are to be admired. Intellectual and often the first to solve tough riddles, you possess knowledge to help your fellow housemates succeed. Ravenclaw's intelligent silence belies a heart of bravery...when you know something is right, you will go to any length to defend it.

Gryffindor - Brave and daring with a hint of recklessness.
Loyal to the end, Gryffindor's are often quick to temper. Their fierce loyalty tends to get them into trouble but, luckily, they make life long friends to keep them safe. Gryffindor's are often the "knight in shining armor" even though, many times, they would prefer not to be. Your courage is a quiet one...only showing its true self when those you love are endangered.

Slytherin - Ambitious, cunning, powerful with a hint of darkness.
While Slytherin House has been known for its production of dark wizards, as a crafty Slytherin you can choose to use your ambition for good or evil. You can choose to resist the dark side or allow it consume you. Either way, your ambitious nature will take you far in life and your cunning abilities will keep you at the head of the pack.

Hufflepuff - Loyal, dependable, and just.
Rather than actions, Hufflepuff's are the optimum of all things just. You seek equality for all and are first in line to accept newcomers that might not otherwise make friends. You welcome new members and do your best to help them learn their inner self so that they can succeed in life. While not the bravest of persons, when a friend is in need, there's no one more dependable than a Hufflepuff to call on. If given a tough task, Hufflepuff's will always rise to the occasion and surprise those around them with their innate abilities be they physical, mental or intellectual.
