Canon Characters

Note: I try to portray all canon characters as they are in the books. These "profiles" simply tell what my perceptions are of the characters. All picture's for these characters are the same people that play them in the movies when available.

Original Characters

James Potter

Birthday: Unknown
Wand: Mahogany, 11", pliable
House: Gryffindor
Family: Kind people who took Sirius in as a 'second son' (OotP, pg. 103) His parents had a lot of money.
Appearance: "James's eyes were hazel, his nose was slightly longer than Harry's, and there was no scar on his forehead, but they had the same thin face, same mouth, same eyebrows. James's hair stuck up at the back exactly as Harry's did, his hands could have been Harry's, and Harry could tell that when James stood up, they would be within and inch of each other's heights." (OoTP, pg 641)

Background: Rather spoiled, but a fun childhood. Probably had a proper upbringing just like Sirius, however his parents were less caring about the whole "pure" blood image.

Personality: He was essentially good natured and kind hearted, if a bit of a spoiled brat at times. He was noble and honorable, hence his animagus form being a stag. He used his skills and talents to impress others, which indicates a rather pompous side. He was also loyal to a fault.

Pros: Highly intelligent as shown by his becoming an Animagus at during his Fifth Year. One of the co-authors of the Marauder's Map and had an Invisibility Cloak that he inherited from his father. He also hated the dark arts. He was admired by most people that knew him. He was a chaser on the Quidditch team and later became a seeker.

Cons: He is portrayed as being arrogant and cocky, showing off often. He has a bad pride strike and can be very pompous. He is, in a sense, a bully in his early years. Even though some people say he was only mean to Severus, he was know for randomly hexing people in the halls.

Robbie Jarvis

Sirius Black

Birthday: Unknown
Wand: Unknown
House: Gryffindor
Family: The Noble and Most Ancient House of Black
Appearance: We all know he is good looking, but I don't see him as drop dead gorgeous.

Background: Sirius comes from a pure blood family that is big on the "pure" part. He rebelled against them early and eventually ran away. Sirius was in his 4th year when his brother, Regulus, started.

Personality: He is a fun loving guy and generally has no problem finding something to amuse himself with. He knows he is good looking and uses it to his advantage. He likes the thrill of danger, but doesn't have a death wish. He is very loyal to his friends and doesn't take things sitting down.

Pros: A formal up bringing because of his family's status. He probably has impeccable manners when needed and knows how to turn on the charm when he wants something. He knows how to talk his way out of trouble, which is very helpful for the other Marauders. He is also incredibly brave and a loyal friend. Sirius was named the godfather and legal guardian of the Potter's only child, Harry.

Cons: He is rather reckless and does stupid things when he is bored. He also can have a wicked sense of humor.

James Walters

Remus Lupin

Birthday: March 10
Wand: Unknown
House: Gryffindor
Family: He is a half-blood.
Appearance: Light brown hair, eyes unknown

Background: His parents tried everything when he was infected, but in those days there was no cure. Dumbledore's trust meant everything in the world to him as he had done what no other headmaster would have dared to do, even years afterwards he feel guilty about betraying Dumbledore's trust while at school. He intended to make the most of his education and making friends was just a bonus.

Personality: Remus is witty, intelligent, and is your basic nice guy. He's mild mannered and inoffensive, polite and courteous, but he was still a Marauders which means he had a large mischievous streak in him. He tends to put others before himself, even in the direst circumstances. Add to that he suffers with Lycanthropy every month and suffers an awful amount of intolerance towards him because of it, it's a wonder he doesn't lose his temper.

Pros: Patience, with even the most annoying people. He is polite even when being taunted or even when somebody is being rude. He takes all of Snape's jabs at him in relatively good humor. He listens carefully to what other people have to say, mediates disagreements diplomatically, and often lets others make their own choices.

Cons: His main failure was his need to be accepted. At School the young Lupin wanted to be liked by his friends, and because of that he tended to let them get away with more than perhaps he should've, "he does like to be liked and that's where he slips up because he has been disliked so often that he's always so pleased to have friends so he cuts them an awful lot of slack" (JKR at the Royal Albert Hall, 26 June 2003).

James Utechin

Peter Pettigrew

Family: Unknown
Appearance: Blonde hair, short, slightly pudgy

Background: Judging by his skittish behavior he was either picked on by an older sibling or he was to attached to his mother and doesn't know how to experience things on his own.

Personality: Rather nervous and skiddish when he is uneasy, but by no means easily scared or always worried. He is very good at tricks and is just as much a Marauder as the rest of them. He looks up to James because that's what he wants to be. He has a need to prove himself as something, anything, but his fears usually get in the way of that.

Pros: He is a good source of encouragement for James, who he admires. He has to be intelligent to be a Marauder. He knows how to keep himself out of trouble. He may seem like a sniveling coward, but it is only an act.

Cons: He is rather dense at times and a bit skittish in situations where he is uneasy. His fear of bad things happening to him (ie. torture, death) usually gets the better of him and this leads to some bad choices.

Charles Hughes

Severus Snape

Birthday: January 9th
Wand: Unknown
House: Slytherin
Family: He is a half-blood, his mother was a witch and his father was a muggle. His father is shown as abusive/controlling.
Appearance: Black, greasy shoulder length hair with black eyes. A long, hooked nose with sallow, pale skin and uneven, yellow teeth. He is known for scowling and has the Dark Mark,

Background: It would seem like his father was an abusive/controlling man and that seems to be how Severus turned out. Only he does it for different reasons, instead of just being abusive because he is angry he does it because it gets him what he wants. And yet he still retains a bit of the child in him as shown by his childlike complaining when dealing with Harry. Ie. when Dumbledore tells him that he can't punish Harry and Ron at the beginning of CoS. It is highly unlikely that the images we saw were a one time only thing. He probably learned really quick how to take care of himself and not let anyone get the better of him, hence knowing so many curses.

Personality: He is a very precise person, he likes doing things his way and in his own time. He has his reasons for everything and he is usually very secretive mostly with good reason. He loves being in control because he gets what he wants. He like's those who work for what they have, although he is biased to others that he views as "like him". Severus really doesn't seem to like the idea of anyone besides himself sticking up for him or defending him. He seems to feel like he then owes that person something, which, apparently, he doesn't like. He hates people who pity him.

Pros: He is skilled in curses and occlumens. He is a man who fixes mistakes no matter what it takes. While he is very menacing in his older years, Severus was not that bad when he was younger. He was, just to a lesser degree. He became more hateful as his life developed.

Cons: He is a vengeful person and would find a way to get back at someone if he could, no matter how or how long. He seems to always think he knows best. He has horrible people skills. He, in a sense, kept the battle between him and James going as they never missed a chance to curse each other.

Alec Hopkins

Lily Evans

Wand: Willow, 10 1/4", swishy
House: Gryffindor
Family: Her parents, both muggle, had her and her sister Petunia, whom she did not get along with.
Appearance: She had long dark red hair and startlingly green eyes. She was very pretty.

Background: Her parents were so pleased when she got her letter, but her sister thought she was a freak.

Personality: She is a sweet girl who most people liked and, in turned, likes most people. She is highly intelligent, forgiving, popular, uncommonly kind, and has good moral values. She doesn't like immature people and likens James' prejudice against Snape and the Slytherins to being similar to the prejudice against Muggle borns and Half-Bloods. She doesn't make distinctions, seeing hate as hate and not justifying either in anyway.

Pros: So bright, she able to intimidate James. She was Head Girl in her Seventh Year. HBP revealed she was an excellent potions student and favorite to Slughorn. She was also very good in Charms. She has no problem telling people off.

Cons: Very cheeky, when she is insulted she is known to be insulting. She can be a bit conceited as she views herself as above people like James and Sirius. She also can turn on people easily when they make her angry.

Susie Shinner

Alexander Avery

Birthday: Unknown
Wand: Unknown
House: Slytherin
Family: The Avery family is known for their connections with the Dark Arts. His father is Avery (Voldemort's counterpart). His older sister is Arietta Avery.
Appearance: I gave him grey eyes and cognac hair. The difference of appearence is due only to heredity (I couldn't see Avery with blonde hair).

Background: Not as spoiled as his sister as he was expected to take care of himself. I made up his first name and he prefers being called Avery.

Personality: He, in the future, "wormed his way out of trouble by saying he acted under the Imperius Curse", so I have made him a rather untrustworthy character.

Pros: If he does have respect for someone else, it is well earned. Severus has earned it and that's why they are close friends.

Cons: He is prone to backstabbing to get what he thinks is the better deal and has little respect for others. His views on the war also get him into trouble because he side's with Voldemort but he can't say that.

Trent Ford

Lucius Malfoy

Birthday: Unknown
Wand: Unknown
House: Slytherin
Family: His parents were pure bloods and probably the same as him.
Appearance: White-Blonde shoulder-length hair with calculating, silver-blue eyes. His physical features can be described as sharp, angular, and aristocratic.

Background: He grew up in a proper "pure" blood household and probably had a very good, albeit stern, education even before he entered school. He probably married Narcissa because she was a pure blood rather then for love.

Personality: He is highly educated and highly conceited. He feels anyone not like him is beneath him and treats them that way. A devout purist, Lucius escaped Azkaban after the Dark Lord fell by claiming that he had been acting under the Imperius Curse. Voldemort also said that Lucius was taking the lead spot in Muggle-torture (GoF33). That should say enough to convince anyone that he is an evil, manipulating, and generally only looking after his own interests.

Pros: Probably one of the richest people in the wizarding world in his later years, so I imagine his parents are rich too. He is educated and intelligent in the Dark Arts. He holds a lot of influence over things.

Cons: Very conceited, to the point of being smug. He doesn't hide his involvement with Lord Voldemort very well.

Jason Isaacs

Narcissa Black/Malfoy

Birthday: Unknown
Wand: Unknown
House: Slytherin
Family: The Noble and Most Ancient House of Black. Her family was about as "pure" blood as you can get. She was sisters to Bellatrix and Andromeda.
Appearance: Long blonde hair with blue eyes. She is described in GoF as quite beautiful, except for the fact that her face is scrunched as though she's got something smelly stuck under her nose. Unlike her sister Bellatrix, Narcissa does not possess the typical family appearance.

Background: Raised much like Lucius, although breed more for marriage connections then anything else. She probably married Lucius more for his influence over others rather then for love.

Personality: She is a typical, upper-class socialite prone to spoiling her only son. She is just like her name would suggest: conceited, vain, and narcissistic. She has the same personality as Lucius. Although, when it comes to her family, she is very protective and motherly.

Pros: She holds a lot of influence over her husband in the future, being able to convince him to keep their son in Hogwarts because its close by, so she probably holds just as much now.

Cons: She is vain and conceited. Her connections to the Dark Lord aren't hidden very well.

Michelle Pfeiffer

Lord Voldemort

Birthday: 1928
Wand: 13 1/2", yew, with a phoenix feather core (given by Dumbledore's phoenix Fawkes)
House: Slytherin
Family: His mother was a witch descended from Salazar Slytherin. His father was a wealthy muggle man.
Appearance: Jet black hair with a tall and slim build. He had long fingers and a high-pitched, cold laugh.

Background: His mother loved his father and used magic to win him over (I think). She died shortly after giving birth and Tom eventually murdered his father. There was no stable family life here, he hated his parents.

Personality: Through his charismatic exterior, few feelings are present and any harm he causes, from the branding of his Death Eaters' arms to the murder of a child, would be of little consequence to him. He does not apologize or answer to anyone and is completely unafraid of nearly everything in existence; save for his own death. There is seemingly nothing that he cares much for aside from himself and his own safety, an ascent to power, and the destruction of his enemies.

Pros: He was described by Dumbledore as "probably the most brilliant student Hogwarts has ever seen." He is a Parselmouth, giving him an ability to converse with snakes. He knows more then most wizards alive.

Cons: He wanted to be the best at everything. He tried to take over the work and yeah... he is the Dark Lord after all.

Christian Coulson

Mary Warren

Birthday: November 3rd 1959. She'll be 17 on Nov. 3rd of her 6th year.
Wand: 11in, Oak, Dragon Heartstring
House: Gryffindor
Family: Mary is a pure-blood with a long family history (connecting with all other mayor wizarding families just like all pure-bloods), but her father is considered a blood traitor for marrying her mother.
Appearance: Sea green eyes and medium length almost black hair that is curly on top and straight underneath, fairly pretty as she takes care of herself.

Background: Her parents are very big on school because they want her to have a lot of options open when she is done, hence her excellent grades. Her parents are both low-level auror's for the Ministry and they have spent their careers teaching her how to protect herself.

Personality: She is generally well-behaved and likeable. She was sorted into Gryffindor solely because of her loyalties to her friends, otherwise she would have been in Ravenclaw. She is very intelligent as her hobby is learning, as long as she isn't forced to learn it for school or something that is. She hates it when people get involved in her life without a reason. She also hates hypocrites and this is way she finds her parent's teaching her how to protect herself so irritating because she thinks that if her parent's truly wanted to protect her than they wouldn't be aurors. She firmly believes that if you put yourself in harms way than you had better know how to protect yourself or its your own fault when you get hurt. To her magic is simply magic; it is the wizard/witch that is good or bad, not the magic.

Pros: Its generally easy to get along with her because she has an open, enthusiastic personality. Also, with her parents being Auror's, they have trained their daughter on how to protect herself (this is during the first war after all). She is naturally very good at hexes, as shown in her wand, and enjoys potions for their abilities to work on people easily and discreetly.

Cons: She is very bold and this puts a lot of people off. Her views on magic and her indifferent attitude towards things has caused her a lot of grief over the years. Her anger is probably her one major downfall though because when she's angry she gets very cruel and has been known to turn on her best friends. Its not that she gets mad easy or often, just that she gets overly angry when she is mad. She is also on the rocks with the Ministry for varies reasons and is under probation which prevents St. Mungo's from treating her anger.

Sophia Bush

Arietta Avery

House: Slytherin
Family: The Avery family are known for their connections with the Dark Arts. Her father is Avery (Voldemort's counterpart). Her younger brother is Avery (Snape's counterpart).
Appearance: She is slightly taller than her brother with silver mane hair that is so pale it almost looks white and pearl grey eyes. She also has a smile with a crook on the right side.

Background: She is a spoiled child and believes things should be given to her simply because of her family name.

Personality: She is incredibly cheeky and sly, using anything and anyone she can to get her way. And she has had a great teacher in her father. She is disgusted with Mary being a blood traitor's daughter and for thinking she could enter into "her" world. She lets her know this whenever possible, usually by starting a rumor about her.

Pros: Sister to Alexander Avery, who is Severus' close friend. She is highly intelligent when it comes to being proper in "high society" and also when it comes to getting whatever she wants.

Cons: Spoiled and very stubborn. She uses sly tactics to get back at people, something Avery and Severus usually look down on. She hates anyone not like her, anyone not "pure" blood.

House: Ravenclaw
Family: Her parents own a small Astronomy shop in Diagon Ally.
Appearance: She is of chinese decent and rather fragile looking. She has long medium dark brown hair and chestnut brown eyes.

Background: She has known Mary for a long time, even before they entered school. She grew up playing with her in the same neighborhood before her parents moved her to Hogsmeade.

Personality: She is like her appearance would suggest; quiet, timid, but still a good friend. She is usually just sort of there, like that one friend that you know will always be around even without having to think about it. She is a comfort just having her around as she is very sweet and charming.

Pros: Kelly is Mary's best friend and so has gone through a lot with her. Even though she is meek, she still packs alot of power when she really wants too, usually with her words.

Cons: She can be overly concerned with what's going on around her. Also, as it says, her personality is timid which can cause problems for her when dealing with others.

Family: She is of Welsh decent.
Appearance: Shoulder length golden red hair and hazel green eyes.

Background: She is descended from a line of Celtic witches and wizards.

Personality: She is very observant and almost always knows what's going on. She has a lot of common sense as she was the most muggle-influenced as a kid of her, Kelly, and Mary.

Pros: She may act tough but she is actually very sweet. Her observant nature helps her understand what's going on and stop problems before they get worse.

Cons: She acts tough to keep people like James and Sirius from playing pranks on her, but sometimes this "image" causes problems. She has an aggressive side, but it usually only comes out when she is defending herself.

House: Hufflepuff
Family: She is a muggle born and only child.
Appearance: She has Three Tone Ash-Brown hair with Royal Blue eyes. Her nose is slightly bigger then she would like.

Background: Her parents weren't around a lot because they both worked so she spent a lot of time reading. She came to like books so much that she can read a whole novel in only a few days. Having all that time on her hands, she was left to read in peace and as such has trouble putting the books down even if something else needs to get done.

Personality: She is a bookworm and acts like one. She can get cranky when pulled away from reading but in the time between finishing a book and starting another she is a very sweet girl.

Pros: She knows a lot of stuff because she likes to read. Granted her favorite books aren't non-fiction but if a topic interests her then she is known the read several books about it. She is generally sweet and very honest.

Cons: Her parents were always away and they never got out much so she tends to experience life through her books. As such she tends to exaggerate things and thinks that the way things work in books is how they work in reality. She cannot stand secrets as she assumes that some great tragedy is being hidden from her (her exaggeration con).

Christina Cole

Mr. David and Mrs. Madelyn Warren

Wands: Unknown
Houses: David was a Ravenclaw and Madelyn was a Hufflepuff.
Family: They are both pure bloods, but David is considered a blood traitor for marrying Madelyn. He might have been a Ravenclaw, but his parents were still critical.
Appearance: Madelyn has emerald green eyes and prairie dusk hair. David has amber eyes and mahogany mist hair.

Background: They are both low-level aurors for the Ministry of Magic. David's parents were very angry that he married Madelyn, but her parents loved him.

Personality: David is a very outgoing kind of guy, the kind of person who would introduce himself to everyone in the party and make friends easily. Madelyn is the same way, just slightly more reserved, usually letting David take the lead.

Pros: They love their daughter and each other very much.

Cons: They are very doting on their daughter, but more so with knowledge than with love. They don't want her to be an auror because they want to keep her out of danger, yet Mary finds them hypocritical for this.
